I had problems with Nero 8 and Windows 7 Beta, as far as I know it is not compatible with Windows 7. However, Kaden is correct in that Nero 9 does work with Windows 7.

I like Linux, especially the latest Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic) it has some great features. As for Apple, all I can say is that if you purchase a newer Mac, then you are running Linux anyway.

It is a long and drawn out tale that involves more then should be discussed here. However, Nero 9 trashed out my computer. Nero 8 will do the trick that I need done. So, if it won't run Nero 8, we go to plan Linux or Apple,

TV, I just ripped CD 1 of Dream Theater's newest album with no problems at all.

A cursory google search leads me to believe that only Nero 9 and above is Win 7 compatible. However, if you explain exactly what you do with Nero, Jim or I could probably point you in a better direction anyway. (Excuse me for speaking for you, Jim, but I know that Jim doesn't like Nero and I personally can't stand it.) I'm sure there are alternatives out there that will do whatever you're looking for at least as well, if not better than Nero,if you're interested, TV

One last thing. It MUST work with Nero 8. That is my work around for my audio books.

I agree with Jim, TV. Windows' built in firewall is better than nothing, but it certainly shouldn't be the be-all of your security measures.. and especially if you don't trust it, simply turn it off and put a third party firewall between them and your PC.

As for Audio Grabber, I keep forgetting to bring a CD from home and try it. Now that it's on my mind, I'll make a note and try to bring one to the office with me tomorrow and let you know the results.

I see no reason why it would not work with Audio Grabber. If it's a compatibility issue with the OS, then you could always run the Windows XP-Mode in Windows 7, which is very fast and works well.

On the issue of firewalls; I would suggest a third party firewall solution anyway. I like Windows 7's firewall, but it's really only the last step in a much larger series of security layers implemented on my network, which includes software as well as hardware.

I have ripped music from CD to MP3 without issue using Windows 7 Beta and RTM both in x86 and x64 versions. What are you concerned about TV? Maybe I can help.
